I have been asked to review the Continental Easter Egg from Thorntons for Izziwizzi Kids. What a treat that was when I had been away and came home to a delicious looking Easter Egg from Thorntons.
The packaging was superb, in a very glamorous looking box, with a pretty pink ribbon wrapped around the middle of the Egg and sat on top of 12 equally delicious looking chocolates, I couldn’t wait to open it and see if the Egg tasted as superb as it looked!
It sat on my kitchen worktop for 24 hours, I debated opening it several times but as I’m a type 1 Diabetic I resisted the urge, when I then had a hypo I seized the opportunity and delicately opened the box, it looked so gorgeous I really didn’t want to disturb it!
I started with a taste of the Parisian inspired milk chocolates which were sat underneath the Egg, they all looked so scrummy I didn’t know which one to try first! I was really happy there was 2 of each of the mini chocolates, it meant I could try 1 of each and leave the other 1 for my partner to try (although they were good and I wouldn’t have normally liked sharing!). There were a couple of the chocolates I wouldn’t have picked out of choice, one of them was lemon flavoured, I’m not a big lover of lemon so I can’t say I really enjoyed this one, and one of them was coated in sugar, the truffle bit inside was lovely but the sugar coating was just too sweet. All of the rest were perfect, even the dark chocolate ones which I had thought about offering to my partner as I don’t particularly like dark chocolate!
After eating the mini chocolates and raising my blood sugar I then had to hold off for a while before tucking into the Egg
the smell of it was divine!! After we had eaten our dinner I cracked it open (excuse the pun!) and decided to share it again, this time with the children! I was really upset about having to cut the ribbon, it was so pretty and definately appealing. I managed to separate the Egg into 2 halves, I put the half that was decorated with icing back into the packaging so it looked almost untouched!
It definately tasted as good as it looked, it was amazing! The chocolate was nice and thick and had the most incredible creamy taste, but although it did taste absolutely lovely I don’t think I could have eaten too much of it as I think it would have been a bit sickly.
When I finally decided the other half would have to be eaten as it was pure torment sat there looking at me I had apprehensions again about disturbing the ribbon which I had put back in place! Again I shared the egg with the children, I just knew I couldn’t have eaten a whole half an Egg without: 1. feeling incredibly sick! or 2. raising my blood sugar levels through the roof!
The decorated side was still very tasty but I wasn’t sure about the icing on the front, I think it was the dark chocolate icing that tasted quite bitter against the milk chocolate.
Overall though I thought the Egg really was ‘Eggsellent’! It is definately something I would now considering purchasing for someone special, perhaps my mum or nan, and I say that because I think the box/packaging is a little bit feminine. And I think the price is good too, considering the quality of the product and the chocolates that came with it.
Thankyou very much for giving me the opportunity to review this product, I loved it and can’t wait for the next review product
